Mercruser 1. Trim pump upgrade

Trim system when to crap last summer one of the rams failed which filled the pump full of metal shavings and add that to the leaky revers lock system on this old Gastron.
After some reading I decided to upgrade to a new style pump with the revers lock build in.
Got new rams flushed all the lines. Replaced the gimbal bearing while I was into it. Got everything back together. New battery. And won’t even try to start.

The old pump connect and the new pump connector are the same. The single pin that goes the opposite direction on the old pum appears to be what went threw the reverse kill switch.
On the new pump that goes straight to ground so I figured it would just be a plug and go.

Am am I missing something silly?

just a quick follow up. as I'm researching more trying to figure out where I have gone astray, seems to be that this should have been a plug an play, and other posts have said to not even bother with the revers lock switch so should just be power, ground, and plug in the three prong plug (which is the same on both the old pump and the new pump) so mayber having a different issue that im just coming across now as this is the first start attempt after being stored for the winter,

won’t even try to start.

Since your replacing everything with new style yo don't need the reverse lock. If the motor will not even come on then there is a wiring problem.

What control buttons do you have (3 button)?
