Hi everyone:

I have a 120 and there is a noisy vibration when I am running the boat and turn it to the right. It is also present when I trim the sterndrive in.

Any suggestions on what I should be checking or looking for as a fix?

Thanks,

Re: Mercrusier 120 Vibration

As mentioned above - You most likely got water in the drive bellows and have ruined the gimbal bearing and/or drive u-joints. If not yourself, you will need to have a tech remove the drive for you to completely diagnose the extent of damage etc.

I'm not a "drive" expert by any stretch of the imagination yet from your description that is most likely your issue. Others will most likely give you similar / better advice.

Most would also recommend you not run the boat in this condition. You will only increase the cost of the repair... :-(

Good luck

Pull the outdrive and check your ujoints for play. If they are fine reach into the gimbal housing and feel the bearing right at the transom.
I would ASSume you have never pulled the outdrive and greased the ujoints and gimbal bearing before.
What year is this 120 ?
Older Mercruiser 120 you had to put grease in manualy no grease fitting.

Thanks for the replies.

I will replacing the bellows and will have them look at the U-Joint and gimbles at the same time.
