Mercrusier 228 Problem

I Am Working On A Mercrusie 228 It Has An Electrical Problem. When Running The River It Shuts Off Like Someone Has Pulled The Kill Switch, But Will Start Right Up. It Will Run For A While And Then Cut Off. After Running For A While It Hust Gets Worse. The Coil And The Wires Going To The Goil Get Real Hot. I Have Put A New Coil And Points And Condenser In It It Anad It Still Does The Same Thing. Now I Dont Have Any Fire To The Points. Can Some One Help Me With This Problem. It Acts Like Something Is Grounding The Coil.
