I have a 2001 Chaparral with twin 5.0l and Alpha drives. This weekend, the trim for the starboard drive would operate intermittently. As I trimmed the drives, Some times the drive would go up, sometimes would not. Sometimes would go down, sometimes would not. As I was trouble shooting, the port drive started doing the same thing. The problem is still there using the "trailer" controls. there must be a common ground I am missing (each drive has it's own pump). I check all I could find....Any help would be appreciated....

Thanks, I was on my way to do that. However, These are "independent systems" that each exhibit the same intermittent problem, at different times. Sometimes its starboard, sometimes its port. but never both at the same time. I was hoping to cut my troubleshooting time down some. Any thoughts (I figured they must have a common ground at some point, but did not find one during my initial toruble shooting.

they should be wired direct to the battery, they share a common ground but not the same ground wire.

This is what I was thinking. Although they have a common ground they probably have separate and multiple ground paths to the same ground. Is it possible there is a problem with the power lead as that is more likely to have one path?

I have a ground "bus". So I've got some tracing to do, I'll post the results after this weekend....
