First off - great site - I'm new to all of this and I'll ask for your patients up front.

Recently picked up a Fourwinns with a 3.0. out on the water and just trolling when I realized the temp was way up -- clocked over. Immediately shut down the engine and let it cool for about 45min. It started ok and seemed to sound fine - the temp is fine at higher speeds but as soon as I get down to trolling idle it starts heating up.

What I would like to know is the following... I've read many of the posts - good stuff - can anyone let me know what steps I should take to rectify this. I imagine the impeller is the first, change the oil in the lower end and the motor second, what about the thermostat?? I'm looking for help and will appreciate anything you members can do.

Lastly, I would like to order a manual (service) as I am no stranger to mechanical repairs but can't seem to figure out which is the right one. My serial # is B623381 ---- I think??

looking forward to some advice, thanks in advance.

If your boat is unknown, yes the parts you listed is a MUST. I will add, I was shy at doing the impeller at first. But honestly, it was so easy I got pissed I payed someone to do it last fall.

Also buy geniune quicksilver / merc parts. Especially the t-stat. The cheap aftermarkets do not work. The rubber impeller is a frequent item so if you must, go ahead with aftermarket if you cannot source OEM. The price is so close BTW.
