I've been having overheating issues with one riser and one hose from the water heater getting super hot. I've changed the impeller and the thermostat but the issue continued. I recently checked the risers for any blockage and everything looked perfect. I suspected there might be a blockage in the hose. When I took off the hose from the thermostat housing leading to the water pump I found a large spring and gasket all corroded in the hose right before it connected to the water pump. Was this spring and gasket part of the hose or did something in my water pump break?

Ayuh,..... The gasket might be from a t-stat change at sometime,.....

The spring is to keep the hose from collapsing under suction,......
