I have a 2001 Chaparral with twin 5.0l mercurisers with alpha drives. On occasion, the starboard engine appears to be "locked" out when trying to start. When the key is turned, the alarms sound but zero sound from the starter or starter solenoid. If I start the port engine and bump it into and out of gear a couple times, what ever is hanging up on the starboard engine frees up and then it starts fine. I've checked the shift cutuout switch and it appears to be fine (I jumpered the switch with no luck). Is there another safety switch that would prevent operation? I don't thing any power is getting to the starter solenoid. Thanks in advance.
