HI,

I did my first ride of the season today, everyrhing goes fine for the first 30 to 45 min. Suddenly the rpm drop from 5000 to 2500 and was choking when i was trying ti give more gas. i then run for 5 min going back to dock with the engine running in this state.

I remember last years it does the same thing at my last ride but i was far from dock and had to ride more. The power was coming back for short time then was going down again. had the motor check at this timethe marina said no problem. They also check compression, was good.

The motor is a mercury 155 inline 6 1982 on a larson wildfire 18. Spark plug are new and the engine was serviced at the begining of the season.

From research on other thread i still clueless. Maybe vent of the tank .

Any clue would be appreciated

Check compression, spark and fuel flow for a start.

compression is good as far as i now. i block the air intake of the carbs if they are working and everytime the engine bogged a bit so i assume carb ok and fire ok. the spark plug have been change between the two occurance of this problem.

It seem happen after a run at WOT. can that be a coil that overheat or corroded wire that heat and make resistance. the motor seem pretty clean and all wiring is in good condition.

Could be wires, check them all for any kind of decay. Clean connections at the switchbox as well.

While losing power if you prime the fuel bulb does that help?
