Hey all, just picked up one of these old engines and want to get it back into fighting shape. It's a 1976 115 hp Thunderbolt. I don't want to add power or look for tricks to add power or anything like that. I just want it running good.
It runs good right now but it slow to start and the water pump needs changed as the stream is weak. I want to ask you all about the items needed and possible a good spot to get them.
I want to change the lower gear oil, what oil do you all recomend?
I want to rebuild the carbs and clean them up, what kit do I need?
I also want to do the water pump and any seals involved with the lower end, what do I need here?
And is there any electronics on the ignition I should replace?
And sites where I could get everything in one go would be great.
I have already purchased the 3 lead vacuum gauge to set vacuum on all three carbs, anything else I need?
Thanks in advance and I'm happy to be apart of this forum!
