What is the impact running engine with a missing exhaust divider plate?

My is rusted out and I had to remove it.....

It changes your power band slightly. I can't recall if it's at the upper or lower end but you'll probably notice little difference.

Other than that, it won't hurt anything...........ed

Basicly the divider turned the inline 6 into two 3 cylinder engines, exhaust wise. Tuned exhaust systems and 3 cylinder engines go together very well. Much easier to tune the exhaust over a wider rpm range than a 2 or 4 cylinder engine. Removal, in theory will cause loss of power, poorer part throttle fuel economy.

Jimmbo, I am not sure I believe that the divider turned the inline six into two inline threes. It is under the block, after the exhaust has already mixed together, at least on my '77 Merc 1500.
