I have a 1983 Procraft 1650v fish and ski. 16.5'. It has a Mercury 150 black max on it. I think it has too big of a prop. When I hit the throttle, it kind of bogs down. Is this due to the prop? Does anyone know what size prop it needs on it? Im not sure what is on it now I cant seem to see anything stamped on it? Any ideas

Re: Mercury 150 black max prop

I have a buddy with the same engine-no jackplate-on the same boat but 1ft longer...he runs a 21P LaserII at 5500 WOT.
For yours, as a starting-point, we need prop make/model, pitch and what your WOT RPM is now.
If the eng. is healthy and the mounting is not as far down as it will go, a 21-23 should be ball-park.
You might take a look at a 21P Stiletto right here from iboats...get an idea as to how that performs and maybe move on to a T1, or possibly even a lightning, which would be good if you had a jackplate.

WOT= Wide Open Throttle.
May need to remove the prop nut and washer to see a P/N. If it's a Merc OEM prop, it should (could) be stamped between 2 of the blades.
