Hello all, this is my first post, I need some help with my 1979 mercury 150 serial # 5204749, it was set-up in a barn for a while and was running good before storage....cranks good, idles good, will not get over 3500rpms when I try to go WOT it just shutters between 3300-3500 rpms, this is what I have done to try and fix it with no luck. I replaced all fuel lines and primer bulb. Rebuilt all 3 carbs, Rebuilt the fuel pump, Replaced the stator, compression is 105-110 psi between the 6 cyls, used spark plug tester at 7/16 gap have good blue spark on all 6 cyls, replaced the reed to crankcase gasket because of air leak, Have not checked the timing (d'ont have a dial indicator) Have not checked the trigger or power packs......any suggestions or anything else I need to check....please help....Thanks Mike

If you have had the carbs off to rebuild them you should do a link and sync procedure. You can find the procedure in the FAQ section. You can check the timing with a timing light and verify TDC with a probe.http://forums.iboats.com/showthread.php?t=168855

Still haven't done the link and sync need to find a dial indicator, however after doing some ohm checks on my trigger, stator and coils (all checked within limits) I found the inside power-pack oozing black sticky tar out of the bottom of it could the power-pack keep the motor from making WOT.......thanks Mike
