I just want to contribute a little with some good info about my experience with fuel flow/consumption. Early in the summer I installed a Lowrance fuel flow meter leading to my 1999 XR6 150 2.5 ltr Mercury outboard attached to my 19' center console deep V 2,500 LBS when loaded (40 gallons fuel, 2 people, 30 gallon bait tank and gear). I am running a LazerII Mercury SS 21p prop and 87 fuel. Below are some noted performance #s using my fuel flow meter.

Idle - 8 GPH
3,000 RPM - 30 MPH GPS - 10-12 GPH
4,000 RPM - 42 MPH GPS - 9.5-10.5 GPH (4MPG @ 42!)
5,300 RPM WOT - 53 MPH GPS - 15.5-17 GPH

All #s were taken in 5-10kt winds and 1-2ft seas with the motor trimmed out. Thought this was interesting info for the 2 stroke guys. Looking at idle #s sure makes a DFI motor more appealing. All opinions are always appreciated. Happy Holidays!
