Problems with 86 3cyl 50 hp:
Boat was towed over road for very long distance. Ran fine before transport but would not idle when put back in water. Changed plugs and motor would not start. Finally got started after several attepts and tried to adjust carb for idle. Engine stalled again and noticed gas leaking in water. Found gas leaking from bottem of lower carb at screw (on upper carb this is where the two are tied together.) Engine is probably flooded after several attempts to start. When boat was taken out of water gas and carbon chunks were leaking from thru hub exhaust??? Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated! Tony

Hi,

If your gas tank vent was closed you probably filled you engine with fuel while driving. the pressure created in the tank would over power the needle and seat flooding fuel into the crankcase of the engine. As it was cycled through it washed down your exhaust housing getting the water, fuel, and chunks coming out of the lower unit.
