I have just purchased a mercury 200hp outboard as a non runner project the condition is like new but has had piston failure and has marked the bore I have a replacement piston and rod but have been told that I can replace the liner rather than re bore or hone is this correct can I buy a liner for a 200 hp mercury ?? If so where ?? I was also told that an oversize piston is the same weight as a standard one s it's possible to rebore only the one cylinder and fit an oversize piston in just one rather than all six but I am dubious as to wether this is correct any help much appreciated many thanks for reading

You can do just one..Who's gonna do tha machine work? New sleeve or just borin'/honin' has ta be done by someone that has tha experience or you'll be back ta square one ina hurry......

New sleeve? Depends on how bad that cyl. is hurt. Can be bored for oversize to some extent. I never liked 30 thousands or more over on an efi 'cause of fuel curve. Over 15 and it gets a new sleeve. Take notice Merc only sells standard and 15 over for efi. 30 on a carbureted motor can be jetted for it.....jmo

But just to be clear. Tha machine work will make or break your whole experience...........
