I just bought a boat with a 1993 Mercury 200 offshore. This is a 2 stroke carburated oil injected V-6.<br />I used the motor approximately 2 weeks before my engine warning alarm started beeping non-stop. I checked the oil reservoirs and they are both at least 1/2 - 2/3 full (engine and bigger tank). I flushed the motor with plenty of fresh water and even used a flushing solution with the fresh water to remove any excess salt bulid-up. After doing this the warning alarm still persists. Here's the catch. If I run the engine tilted up with fresh water only via ear muffs and hose the alarm stops. As soon as the engine is tilted down to exactly where the entire prop is submerged the alarm starts again. Remember it is still running fresh via the muffs and hose in both up and down positions. The only port that is below the waterline when the alarm starts is the propellor thru-exhaust. The rest are above water. Does anyone know where I should start?
