This is the second time I've been left stranded out on the lake and I need to figure it out. I have a cener consol Robalo with a Mercury 125 2-stroke on it. My throttle control says quick silver on it. My problem is that every now an again something happens with my throttle control that will not let my motor start. Its like a safety gets opened and won't close. Normally, when I turn the key over a beep sound comes on and my gauges activate. The last time I got stranded I noticed that when I turned the key on no beep sound and my gauges did not energize like they normally do. After I trailered my boat home the motor fires right up. I'm thinking the bouncing down the road closes some safety switch and the thing starts working again. Can anyone tell me what this problem might be or where to start looking? Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

Bad ignition switch or possibly a bad neutral safety switch. Does the motor turn over at all when this happens?

The motor does not turn over when it happens and the trim at the shifter does not work. However, the trim on the motor works fine. Normally when I turn the key on the fuel gauge turns on. This time nothing came on. I don't think its the ignition switch but probably something to do with shifter control box. Next time I will have a volt meter. Can anybody tell me where the neutral safety switch is on this model motor?

I would look at your wiring. Neutral safety switch is in the box but probably not your problem.

Being stuck/stranded is my wife's worst nightmare she said we need twins, anyway
Do you have a malfunction indicator light to read fault codes,or another way to read them?
You should get a factory service manual because its complicated, and could be a few things.
It sounds like a wire, starts great cold at the ramp, when she gets hot resistance starts to cause problems.
