So my friend just bought a new 2006 20HP electric start/electric tiller outboard for his boat. His boat already has remote controls up front from the '89 Evinrude he is replacing. Ideally we'd like to keep the remote controls. However, we believe it won't work with the current cable driven system (but maybe steering will hook up?). We searched for the conversion kit from Mercury and came across this part #880095A12. Now from what I understand this is to go from the electric tiller to the electric remote but I can't find the contents of the conversion kit. It seems this kit comes with the carb but why would I need a new carb if the tiller is already electric? Am I finding the right kit for the job I need to do? Help is appreciated! Thanks!
