mercury 225 misfiring

2004 225 efi has spark at idle but when going cylinder 2 wont run we have cleaned injectors , changed coil and tried borrowed computor but no change ! Any help or ideas would be great.

Well have you done a spark test?
You need a proper tester set to 7/16"gap.
This large gap simulates the cylinder under load and pressure which needs more voltage to make the plug spark.
They are less than $5 any just about any auto store.
If indeed it doesn't have enough jam to jump the gap, then you need to get a DVA tester to plug into your multimeter so you can properly test the trigger...
If you search iBoats, you can find plans to build your own for a few bucks or just buy one for $25.
They are simple devices with a diode or 2 and a cap with a resistor across the leads so it slowly discharges.
The cap stores the short electrical pulses from the trigger so that your multimeter can read them.
Otherwise the pulses are too short in duration for a multimeter to properly read them.

individual CDI Coil paks?

Swap it to another position, if the problem moves then it is a bad CDI coil pak, replace it.

If it remains the same you will need to DVA test the trigger, possible broken lead that separates as the timing lever is advance off idle.

Compression test? What's the serial#? Fill out the profile,you might be close to someone who can help.
Not sure where where your fuel pump is located.It's powered by the motor vacuum.
Check the valves/diaphragm in the pump.
The stator.If it's like the one I had it has removable lugs.The one powering that cylinder might be bad.I might be way off but it sounds like your ready to try anything.J

2004 has no stator or trigger, if you have spark at idle check the compression as suggested, if it has compression and is a little lower than the others check the reeds on that cylinder as it may have broken one and that will not let cylinder get fuel...

if you didnt find the problem yet. maybe its a CDM on a different cylinder thats the problem.

I have the same problem on my 2004 EFI 225 Mercury did you ever figure it out
