Hi. I need some help with a Mercury 25 ELPT 4S, serial 1B004813. I do not get any voltage to the main ignition switch at the helm. I do have 12 volts at the main relay under the hood. Without having the schematic, I would have thought one of the small low current red wires at the main relay goes to the keyed ignition. I must be wrong. And, oddly enough, if I hot wire the main relay it does switch and fire the starter and the engine runs. I thought the keyed switch sent voltage from the main relay through the keyed ignition switch back to the low current switching side of the relay. So, I'm confused on how the keyed ignition switch works. I don't understand why I can hot wire the starter and have the engine continue to run with the helm keyed switch completely unplugged from the circuit (and laying on the floor). Any help is appreciated.
