Just got a 87? 35hp merc outboard, that runs great in nuetral at all RPM, and runs fine in gear at low RPM, but under load it will start to sputter and sometimes even stall when accelerated.

The motor has recently had a new fuel pump installed. I was thinking it could just be a gummed up high end jet. Maybe a sticky float?

Does anyone know of an online diagram of this carb?

Or, can anyone describe where the high end jet is, what about the plug on the float-bowl to drain the fuel out of their. Where is the low speed jet?
Are these jets adjustable or fixed?

I figure I may as well just take apart the carb and clean in, or at least remove the jets and blast carb cleaner through? But I am not positive which is which.

Thanks very much

I think it would be best if you took the carb off degummed it(carb cleaning fluid) and put in a new carb replacement kit.(reasonable cost)

Alex

Thats a very basic carb, not much to it. the low speed is at about 2 oclock looking back at the throat of the carb. parts breakdown at BAM Marine site. If you intend to keep the engine buy a manaul
