Hi. Bought a boat with a Mercury 40 hp in 1992. In a box was a power trim as I am now trying to revive. The engine was broken rusted inside so I bought a new one.
Disassembled the pump and blown all channels. Even blown pump housing channels.
Also took the opportunity to renovate the cylinder portion with a rebuid-kit.
They changed even three o-rings on therelease valve. Has aired the system now afterto read how to do. In the highest position of the cylinder is the engine stationary (not lowered) so I guess the release valve works as it should.
Do not lift the cylinder even though the engine is running. Having chosen the right drive shaft and spins. Taken off the pump part from the cylindrical part but there is no oil from the hole in the pump housing.
Surface casing (next to release valve) is a screw with a spring-loaded point. On the same side a valve with a bullet. I do not know its function. Has it something with the pressure to do.
Guess that something is wrong with the pump. The oillevel is good.
