Hey Guys,

We recencly had started our 402 Mercury outboard and the carburetor was leaking and we took the motor cover and most of the wiring were corroded. The stator wires were to bad to replace so we bought a new one. Once all the wires were replaced and the carburetor was back on the motor the motor wont start, the motor turns over but no spark at the plugs. I checked the tilt switch and even disconnected it with still no spark is there anything we have missed or have to check?

Thanks

DId you replace all the wires?
The same thing happened to me a few weeks back, all the wires were corroded so I replaced the wires from the wiring harness, to wherever they went eg. to the switch box, rectifier, choke and then also changed all the wires coming from the switch box after i replaced the wires it fired up again after i originally thought the switch box was blown.
Thats what i would be doing first before spending money on parts.

We tried that, bought a switch box still no go, the last is the trigger which did test low on voltage only 2 to 3 volts which should be 5 + volts. Theres nothing left, coils tested fine and new stator ( the wires were to far corroded to salvage...
