Mercury 40hp 4 stroke

Who makes the 2003 40hp merc 4 stroke? I had heard that some of their engines are manufactured by Yamaha. Is the 40? <br /><br />Thanks, <br /><br />-Keith

dilligaf, Merc has it's own 4 strokes?I thought they were suzuki! ??<br /><br />DHP I like dilligaf for a name.Have used it many times.Usually after saying what part of NO don't.....

It is Johnson that uses Suzuki 4 strokes.. .40 and up, maybe some of the smaller ones, too.

That's right JB Mercury and Yamaha have been in bed together since the 70's (remember the early Mariners?) I believe the 4 stroke EFI models are all Merc. Some of the early 4s carbs were combinations. I don't remember what they told us about that in the last school I went to.<br /><br />dilligaf is generally how I feel about most situations DHP. I do my job to the best of my ability and if people don't like it, they can KMA. I use the what part of no line all the time. I guess I have become a bit jaded after 20 years in this business.
