My motor is on a pontoon.
I bought it used and carbs needed cleaning due to boging any RPM past idle,, jets were gummed,, after cleaning ran good execpt last inch of throttle it would bog down, so you pull back a little and ok... Just before bog,4200 rpm, you can slam the throttle WOT and it will run up to 5000 rpm for 2 seconds, then bog and fad back,, then you pull throttle back, it cetches it's self and back to 4200 and your ok.
Last year, i decided to do a clean again, w/ a gutair string,,, no obstructions,,, and i tried one thing,,, i switched the floats and needles to different carbs. Well dumb mistake, now it bogs at 2,500,, then if you blow past that it's fine from 3,000-4100, ten bog again,, then you gotta jump to around 4,500,, all bog if you go higher than that.
Im suspecting the needles are not seating,,, ???? Put wouldn't it be flooding then ?? Doesn't seem to flood,,, does seem like fuel starvation during the bog,,, cause when you slamp the throttle up,,,, the plungers have that squirt post and yes i seen it does work ,, and it squirts that fuel and it runs good for that second to get you to the next rpm range that runs good.
Idle w/ no load the boat seems fine...
I did try squeezing the bulb while someone drove, and ran it through the bad rpm ranges and bulb squeezing did nothing,, seemed like i could not reall pump it while running anyhow.
Any suggestions ?
Im ready to buy 4 carb rebuild kits,, wondering if air is getting in bowl gap,, maybe o-ring not sealing.. they all seemed flat,, assembled back anyhow,, didn't fee like buying the kits,,, 4 carbs,, pricey.
