Re: mercury 50 hp problem

Try to rebuild the fuel pump. It's an easy job and it's cheap.

I dont think this is fuel pump because when i push the choke, engine slows down it means have too much gas, instead off accelerating, when the fuel delivery would be bad
what do you think?

Have you adjusted the carbs in the lake in gear as it takes both back pressure and load to set them properly.

Re: mercury 50 hp problem

ok I just cam back from the lake I adjusted carbs and motor was running quit nice then when I approach idle speed and then neutral starts stalling again then I push choke for a sec and goes ok then stalls again I think it is steal something small clogging carbs or maybe fule pumo but this one seams to work ok
I will try to clean carbs again abd than I will see.
Thanks for comments.

Re:2001 mercury 50 hp 2 stroke fuel pump rebuilt

Re:2001 mercury 50 hp 2 stroke fuel pump rebuilt

ok I followed your advice and I went to marine store to order rebuilt kit that should be cheap and labor easy. So when I asked, the guy said $ 21 for diagraph kit and $ 50 for gasket kit(total $ 71) Than I am thinking if this is cheap let me check how much is brand new fuel pump. It is 114.17. So now I am confused, should I buy only diagraph or maybe add gaskets ( together $71) or just buy brand new fuel pump 114.17 what kinda make sens it is only 40 bucks difference and I don't have to deal with cleaning and putting stuff back together. How this is working can I just buy diagraph and then reuse gaskets, the engine is 2001 so I am thinking they can be pretty worn out or just buy new fuel pump for $114.17 ?

First of all, don't ever go see this guy again, NEVER.

All you need is in the diaphragm kit (21-857005A1 @ 21$). First pic.

The one at 50$ that he's talking to you is the master gasket set (27-828553A97), used for a complete powerhead overhaul, wich also include the diaphragm kit. Second pic.
