Regards to all! sorry for my english i have a mercury 50 2t 4 cil 1977, serial number 9136284 and i should replace the spark plug cables. now my question is these cables have internal resistance, given that they are with a stainless steel core? when I measure them with a multimeter the resistance is 0. the second question is considering that in my country there are no cables available and the supply is about 190 usd for 4 cables, can I get ordinary cables from cars that have about 5 kilo oms of resistance vs 0 oms resistance? thanks to all!

hello, I'm thinking of replacing it because a couple of time hit me with electricity when I touched the cable. So I think they need to be replaced.

They should have zero resistance. Do not replace them with automotive resistor wires.

Can you put some new insulation on them to help them last longer?

Sometimes solid copper core spark plug wires are available, and you can get new boots and make your own wires.
