I have a 2008 Mercury 50hp 2 stroke. It was my Dads and he passed away so Ive inherited it.The motor hasn't been ran in over a year. When I turn the key to start the motor it will turn over occasionally. Most of the time I get nothing. When it does turn over it won't start. I did manage to get it to start one time but I killed it quickly because I didn't have the water hose connected to it. After that I haven't been able to start it since. Any ideas where I should start?

When you charge the battery up, either before or after , check and clean off the connectors to the battery posts. I just had to do this as an annual maintenance task after mine sat for 6 mos. The post areas are just like a car or truck and they need yearly and semi yearly attention.
