I have a Mercury 5hp outboard engine.
I ran the engine an noticed that no water was pumping through the pee line so I shut it down to prevent any damage. The only thing I can think of is to change the impeller. Is there anything else I can/need try to fix?

I don't know what impeller to puchase??
here is the info for my motor:
Mercury 5 hp - 394
S/N: 0A842326

I don't know the year of the motor, how do I find this out?

Also, is it much work to change the impeller on a motor of this size? I do not have a manual for it. It is such a small motor I was hoping I do it myself, any advice?

Thanks,
Ed

Take hose off and make sure its not plugged if not put air down fitting where you took hose off. you should change impella every year. buy a manual they have them here at iboats as well as impella. It is not hard to change but manual is nessasary

Go to the "Mercury parts express" site and type in your motor serial no. Itwill give you an exploded view of the lower leg components. Your impeller will be shown as well as the part number. Hope this helps.
