mercury 65hp battery leads.

hi all. i have just bought a 65hp thunderbolt outboard with no battery leads. the serial no. on the transom bracket is 9031681 which a search tells me its a 1973 model. can anyone please tell me where to connect to on the outboard. ive looked for photos to show but found nothing. this is my second post and im hoping i get the same results as last time. many thanks all.

They connect directly onto the starter. I replaced mine a few years ago and used pre-made cables designed for a cars' battery to starter connections. I just spray painted the positive lead red on both ends to prevent mixing them up should I ever need to disconnect them. The pre made cables come in varying lengths with the terminals already installed. Easy and cheap. I got mine at Farm & Fleet, but any automotive parts store should have them.

I did the same thing but used lawn tractor wires that I bought at Wally World for $6 each.
