Mercury 65hp Thunderbolt Ignition and De Havilland 4.33m Runabout easy prop ques

I have a Dehavilland 4.33m runabout fibreglass with a 65hp merc thunderbolt 1970. I need a new prop as this one is a bit wonky and chipped beyond repair probably. I have a choice between 19" and 17" aluminum props and i can only buy one. My main reason for buying one is for tubing skiing and just towing and not mainly for fishing as i can switch it to this prop... .... I don't know what kind of propr this is but im guessing 21 but who knows!!!!<br /><br />Please any help would be GREAT!

Try the Mercury web site, at the bottom they have a link called prop selector. It is for newer outboards but if you know your boats weight and the gear ratio of your motor you could enter that and see what it comes up with. My thought would be if you are looking at skiing go with the 17" as long as you do not over rev the motor.

I need to get a new prop anyway to have for skiiing as i have been told this one will suck for it. <br /><br />

here is how the pitch works ... the lower the number the more power you will have out of the hole (pulling power) and the RPM's are higher at top end it's like putting 411 rear end in your camaro and the higher pitch the more top end speed and lower RPM's put it will take you longer to get there and no power when you are taking off ......so try and get one that is in the middle so you can pull skiers and still have some top end speed for boating 17 pitch is around the middle of the road

65 should come with a 17p, and thats probably the upper range..
