Hi,

Just picked up a classic old Merc 6hp. I tried the resources in the sticky for finding your model year but it was no help.

The SN is 842228 . It is cloud white (lots of light blue showing under the chips but I don't think it was re-painted. Says Merc 60 on the cowl and 6p. Has brass shift knob on the front of the cowl(connecting to a swivel bracket that shifts by a cable running thru the leg).

It is going to need coils (they were bad and are gone) and plug wires....and probably points/condensors etc. Just gotta figure out the exact year before I go searching for parts. I assume it is probably pre-1960 based on the the shift knob etc.

Thanks,
Tim

Gerry,

Nope just double checked Tag says Model WH6 and SN:842229 Also interesting...the tag also said Western Auto Supply, Fon Du Lac Wis.

Mystery getting solved.
Tag also says Western Auto Supply, Fon Du Lac Wis.

After some more research I have figured out it is a 1955 Wizard WH-6(Super 5) as found in sn range on this Wizard Site: http://www.wizardoutboardforum.com/techinfo.html

Now for the next mystery... did someone paint this cloud white and put the Merc 60 and 6hp decals on it?

I'll try to post a pic soon.
