Motor been running great. Was fishing. Went to move to another spot. Started the motor in nutral / cold start. The enging revved a little high. I quickly lowered the cold start. Went to put the boat into gear and NOTHING. Motor idles fine, but will not go into forward no reverse. I removed the cowl while in the water. The shifter and the throttle cables are working fine. I still have to shift up to raise and lower the outboard.
I took the boat out of the water. The prop spins freely like it is not connected to anyting. I removed the shifter cable and the prop. I see there is ALOT of play in the prop shaft. I also see the splines on the prop look fine.

MIGHT WANT TO DRAIN LOWER UNIT AND CHECK FOR METAL . COULD BE BUSTED GEAR
