Was a kit. They show up on Ebay for about $300. Parts are NLA but many systems in working cond to be had. I think you can use a CMC kit also

There are a few aftermarket tilt/trim units that can be used on your motor. CNC and Panther are good units and will cost around 750.00 for a new one, or you can shop around for a good used one at some marine dealers, want adds, or on the web. I have a CNC unit that needs a new pump and wiring that would cost near 450.00 for the parts needed. You can PM me if needed. JMO

Re: mercury 85 hp

I had TT on my '85 so they exist. This used the original design of the twin cylinders outside the clamp brackets where they originally had shock absorbers.

Doesn't directly help to solve your problem but at least you know they cam as OEM equipment from the dealer on a new engine.

I had a '72 Johnson 125 with no trim or tilt. Back then they only offered tilt. After several years I wanted some tilt. I bummed around and found a dealer who had been in business for a long time and sure enough he had a new one, very dusty and I was in business. You may find the same for your engine if you have a dealer handy.
