Hello all, I'm going to collect this engine in a few days time, just wanted to know if anyone has any information on it
Such as what the XS means and the HP at the prop, the title of listing i'm buying it from mentions 75hp 850 xs wouldn't it be 85hp?

Also if anyone could give me a serial number for an impeller for this engine would be appreciated

Re: Mercury 850 XS

If its a original XS it will have the water pickups under skeg and no side inlets and makes about 80 hp at prop and is a 1976-79 range and will have ADI ignition.

Re: Mercury 850 XS

A longshaft 850 weighs-in about 252 lbs; I can't recall if that was with power trim. The PT&T cylinders and brackets would add maybe 10-15 lb at most.

If you're thinking what's a good way to pick it up, one of these screwed into the center of the flywheel is probably the most secure/safe way of doing so:

p.s. congrats on your purchase of this rare motor!
