Mercury 9.9 hp year model & Hp upgrade

I have purchased a used boat and motor (mercury 9.9 hp). I would like to know the year model of the motor, the serial no. is 0B339337, I am not sure but I think the model no. is 1010301BD.<br />I would also like to know what is involved in boosting the horsepower of this motor, if in fact it can be done. 1988.<br /><br />The upgrading issue comes up every now and then.<br />In short the result use to be 'it involves more than just simple parts, it's not worth it, if you want more power - get a bigger motor'
