I have a 2000 Mercury 9.9 4 stroke.
I have had it for two seasons, and it has always left a minor oil slick when parked on the dock.
Last time out the leak got much worse, to the point where I could see the slick on the launch when I pulled out.
There was a freeze here last week - not sure if it might be related.
I blew some baby powder on the leg and discovered that the leak is coming from a small hole on each side of the leg.
What is this hole? What needs to be fixed?
