Considering a 2006 Four Stroke (20") 9.9 Mercury, what's the difference between the 9.9 and 9.9 Big Foot model? Also, can you use ear muffs for fresh water wash out or is a pail the only way?<br />Thanks, <br />Charlie

Bigfoots are made specifically for large boats usnig small motors. Such as pontoons on lakes with a 10Hp limit, or as kickers on boats with other primary sources of propulsion such as larger fishing boats and sailboats. They are !NOT! a good choice for a little rowboat. Bigfoots can use the muffs, standard gearcases require a different contraption that doesn't work so well. Many have flushing capabilities that allow a garden hose to be connected directly to the motor.

What WBW said. <br /><br />"Bigfoots" use a different gearcase and gearset and turn a bigger prop slower for more efficient low speed operation. Same as the Yammy "Hi Thrust" versions.
