Mercury 9.9hp 80's?

Hello all, I'm having a hard time finding this motor re: parts. Welsh plug shows 0G008955. Trying to identify year for parts. Is it a throttle shift? It was made in the U.S. thanks for any info on it.

My wildest guess is a 1994 model.----But a dealer would insist on the serial # to get you the correct parts first time.----Online parts places will ship what you ordered.---Right or wrong parts.

If there is a piece covering where the side shifter would be then i would say it is probably throttle shift, if there a hole in the cowling where the shifter would be then it probably was a side shift. either way they should be interchangeable, so if you dont have a tiller handle or something, you could probably buy the parts to make it either side or throttle shift. but i could be wrong on that
