I'm considering upgrading my 9.9hp carb to a 15hp carb (Why? Because I can, lol) I'm having trouble finding part numbers. My motor is a 2006 2cyl 4stk Bigfoot and the serial number is OR014E559. Where do I find a compatible 15hp carb?

BB have you search any of the boat part sights to see if there are any differences between the 9.9HP and 15HP engines other then the carb? If they are the same, with part numbers being the same for both engines other then the carb part numbers, then a carb swap would do it. But it there are other differences between the two engine types, then changing a carb is not going to give you a 15HP engine. JMHO!

A modern day Merc 9.9 4 stroke is 12.8 cu inches
15 is 21.4 cubic inches
so, different blocks.

also different gear ratios in the gearcase

and then there is the 25 lbs difference in weight. I'm thinking a bigger carb will not weigh 25# more.

ask your "sources" to prove it.

True, like a Force, can be done with carb and linkage adjustments. It can make a big difference, but never tested it for actual HP.

I don't know of any others that can be converted without internal work.

Well now you guys do have a point. I never thought to ask what year motor they had. That kinda takes the wind out of my sails, kinda like the phone ringing when you're....well, you know. Lol

a bit of additional info

about 3 years ago i investigated changing my 9.9 mariner and from my research from 1995 to 2000 a few 2 strokes can be changed, i sat down and looked the parts list over item by item and compared numbers in my case i was lucky, i ordered a new carb for a 15 hp and installed, it took several hours after a link n synk to fine tune the new carb, but it has worked well since, now whether it gave me a full 15 hp i will never know but it did give me a good bit better performance

several of the Johnson /evenrudes will change with a carb swap, i slip my boat on a 9.9 lake so its some what common, but all are 2 strokes
