I am new here.
I have a Mercury 90 hp DI serial# OG144376. I think it is a 94 or 95 model.
I use it about once every two weeks. It ran good for first 2 or 3 tanks this summer. Then it started idling rough, but ran ok. Then it wouldn't idle. Then finally, it would not start.
I removed the plugs, cleaned and replaced. Now it will start for maybe 5 seconds, then quit.
I have been using Pennzoil 2 cycle oil and regular unleaded from a gas station which is probably an ethanol blend.
Any suggestions before I take it out of the water and take to a mechanic and get on the waiting list to have it worked on?
I am not a great mechanic, but am not intimidated by troubleshooting or trying to repair it myself as long as we are looking at fuel or ignition problems.
