Finally getting the boat out (yea work sucks) and noticed (in the driveway check) that the distinctive "click" when I push the ignition key in is now a faint tap. She started right up but I'm concerned. I researched the problem and its not clear to me if pushing the key in actually chokes or primes the engine.

Also, I'm not sure if the problem is in the ignition switch or the engine itself.

Any thoughts greatly appreciated.

THanks!

I'm not sure what year yours is, but all of the ones I have had were simple solenoids, no enrichment. Could you see the choke closing all the way? Also you didn't mention that you had done any maintenance or moved the choke solenoid at all. If you have moved anything I have learned the hard way that they are very position sensitive. A little to high or low in the bracket and it won't work properly or maybe not pull all the way. Hope that helps.

Since it squirts gas into the carb I would say it primes it. As for the fainter click it may just be that the battery is a little low from sitting. It sounds like everything is working alright. Since its not broke don't fix it.
