hello just tried to start my motor on muffs for the first time since i got my boat, and it seems that the (excuse me if terminology is wrong im a car guy,and new to boats wich is evident by my post count)teeth on the startor gear witch engage on the flywheel are worn down,is that something that can be bought as a replacement part or do most places bend you over into buying a whole new startor, also tried to start it with the emergency chord and no sucess there is there any trick to that method too, thanks for helping the noob,oh yeah one more ?,id like to take the motor in to have it serviced, kinda like a general tune-up to make sure everything is good to go so when i get out on the water there are no surprises,do i take them the whole boat,or do i have to take the motor off of the transom and take just that to them

I don't know about the starter. However we need to know what type of motor..hp,year,serial number. Depends on what size motor you have to start with the emergency cord. Over 90hp that hasn't been started in a while, you will never start it with the cord. Also not do not take your motor off bring the whole boat.

On the transom clap, right under the steering linkage there is a plate.
