Hi,
Have just finished getting a non running 'Classic' 50 back into service.

I don't know much about it though and am looking for a little info.

The serial is 9463335
It has 4 cylinders.

What age does that make it? and is it actually a 50 or a 45?

Also i have no prop for it and not sure what pitch to start experimenting with Pitch/RPM at, any suggestion? (on a 18ft fiberglass ski boat)

Many Thanks

Jeremy

Re: Mercury 'Classic' 50

Most of those are 45hp.

While they are a wonderfull little outboard. I think asking one to push an 18' fiberglass ski-boat is out of the question, at least for any serious use. Try a 13 pitch prop for starters, but that sounds like too much boat for the poor little feller. With a little luck it just might plane out the boat. IMHO 90hp is bare minimum for a fiberglass ski-boat.

-W
