Mercury Engine serial number

Hi, where can I find the serial number on a ME 30 ELP TO Two stroke Mercury engine? the plate on the transom clamp is missing.

Depending on the age of the engine, you should be able to see a disc like this:

On the lower starboard side of the engine block.

Hi, the number I got was 9936046, I couldn't see any letters on the disc.

That s/n is for a made in Belgium engine:

30 30 2-cyl 9928481 9974354 1997 Belgium

From here:

Mercury 2-takt, 2-cyl, 30-40 hp, produktions?r, modellguide

third from the top in the RH column.

Parts Listing:

Service Manual P/N: 90-826148R03

I have a 90-826148r02 which is one revision out but it would certainly help you out.
