Included with my 90HP 2 stroke was an attachment to flush the motor. In the engine's user manual it sort of hints that you can use this instead of muffs. It is not too clear if you can. I have never done that in fear of tearing up the impeller. Can you use this instead of muffs? Picture attached.Mercury_Hose_attachment.JPG

What year motor are we discussing? Where does the flusher connect to?

Motor is a 2008. Flush line connects to a hose that runs into the power head. Hook it up to the garden hose turn on the water and it pushes water through the power head out the pee hole and down into the lower unit.

jason, Your owners manual should say whether you should run the motor while using that flush device. On my Johnny, a flusher like that can be used, motor on or off, up or down. You can also use the muffs as well, but the motor must be running.

Agreed. THe owner's manual is not 100% clear, and I want to be absoultely sure before I run it with the flush attachement. I don't want to kill the impellar. I'll reread tonight and see what it says and post.

Those flushers are there to provide the opportunity to flush the engine WITHOUT running the engine.
