mercury gauges ...

My wife bid and won a gauge cluster on EBay before asking me if they would work. They sound like a good deal except that they are for a twin engine Mercury. Gauges are Livorsi Gaffrig Mako Special Edition and include 2 tachs, 2 voltmeters, 2 water pressure, and a fuel gauge. Now I only need one of each, but I need them for a 60hp Johnson ... should I contact this seller and beg off? Or can they work? The whole deal was $57 shipped, but I would rather get what I need then get something useless for a good deal.

Thanks,
Mark

Re: mercury gauges ...

Great, thats what I wanted to hear!!

Now for my next questions ...
Will any speedometer connect to the pitot tube I have or will I need to get a new pitot & tubing? Will all tachs be able to be set to my type of motor (Johnson 60 TJ60TLESM)? Lastly, I have a white tube that is connected inside the motor to the **** tube ... is that for water pressure or water temp? The only other gauges I would like are voltage, trim, and maybe fuel (when I get a sender).

Thanks again!

If the tachs should work fine. The tube you speak of is called a tell-tale and a water pressure gauge would be Tee'd into it. A water temperature gauge requires a matching sender which is any one of several types. One type screws into the head and is in contact with the water in the water jacket. Another type is a thermocouple style which mounts under one of the head bolts. A third style mounts on a bracket and sensor is in contact with the head.
