I'm not certain where it would be, but the serial number is usually stamped on the cylinder block somewhere on those old Mercs. The KF5 was made from 1949 to 1952 and for all intents and purposes were more or less the same through the run. The earliest models from 1949 had some cosmetic differences, but that's about it.
