I have a crated 2014 Mercury 115 and need to lift it out of the crate and onto my boat, I know that Mercury has a lifting tool for this application which is a flywheel puller and lifting ring all in one from $180.00 to $300.00. Question I have is there a product out there which does the same job but for less money.

I made mine with a nut and a clevis. If you don't have a welder, get such and take it to a welding shop You can get more threads if you take your flywheel nut off, but I did mine with it in place. Only had about 3 or 4 threads but that was enough. Tensile strength of the ss crank is 10,000 psi or so and the engine only weighs around 300. Ensure that you get the same material for both.....if ss nut, get a ss S hook and find a guy that welds SS. If carbon steel, carbon steel for both...test with a magnet. Carbon attracts, SS very little if any attraction. Probably wouldn't cost you 50 bucks for the whole shebang.
