Yes the parts are interchangeable on like motors. Power trim is an option.

Fish, If you are simply planning to move the Power Trim, it is far easier to remove/reinstall the PTT brackets, rather than pull the powerhead and lower unit and switch midsections.

Re: mercury lower unit

ok, heres my situation, i have my original motor, which i overhauled the lower unit on, but the uper shift shaft in the motor snapped becuase it rusted through, and to take apart the whole motor to get at this shaft out is alot of work i dont have time for. plus the part has been discontinued. and im interested in picking up an almost identical motor for cheap. so i want to take my overhauled lower unit, and put it on the new motor i am planing on buying (the one with the power trim) because this one i am buying needs a new water pump impeller, so i can put on my fixed up lower unit on this motor with pt, and keep my old motor and the loer end from the one im buying for parts. so i was just curious if anything would be affected by the switch of lower units

thanks again

Re: mercury lower unit

If the only difference in the motors is that one has PT and the other one doesn't, then the Lower units should be identical. You will want to remove the reverse lock rod on the manual tilt model, since you will no longer need it.

Fish, The PTT units should have seperate battery cables, from the motor.
